Waterbury Brass Co., organized in 1845, produced screw bases, shells, eyelets, ferrules, thimbles, washers, and other brass items. The 19 volumes are the records of the Manhan (Eyelet) Division. In the early days of the company Naugatuck River water from the Manhan canal ran the water wheels that powered the eyelet machines. Turbines later replaced the water wheels. Waterbury Brass Co. joined other area companies to form the American Brass Co. at the turn of the twentieth century.
